STRATEGIES

Now that you understand the basics of the game, it's time to talk strategies. There are a lot of moving parts to a successful network: matching houses to destinations, minimizing traffic, working around waterways and mountains, and more. Here are a few ways to tackle your new city.

Color-matching

As stated, pins can only be collected by cars that are the same color as their destination. One strategy is to keep houses and destinations separated by color as much as possible, even when it comes to motorways. As more colors appear in more places, you may eventually have to build intersecting roads, but avoid it as long as you can. This cuts down on two-lane traffic, minimizes your use of roundabouts and traffic lights, and also happens to be very nice to look at! Use this strategy if you think you're best at managing your road tile stash.

Early traffic management

Another strategy is to build intersecting roads early on in your game. Contrary to the color-matching strategy, this one will require you to make very good use of your upgrades to manage dual-color traffic, crowded corners, and busy intersections. You'll save up on road tiles for a pinch, but will need to manage your extras as you only get few each week. Use this strategy if you like to try your hand at traffic management!

*You cannot build a motorway over a mountain, so if you haven't got any tunnels, try linking two motorways together or using road tiles to get around these barriers.

Using the clock

Don’t forget that you can pause the clock and freeze the cars and pins at any time. As new cars and houses spawn, you may find it advantageous to stop the clock and rearrange your roads.

*If you attempt to delete road tiles or move upgrades while cars are still at their destination or traveling on them, your count will not increase until all the cars are back home. The original layout will remain on the map in gray until cars get to their garages. Make sure you know how many you have before you start moving things around!
